From Paris to Italy – Postcard Monday

Parish to Italy - Postcard Monday“If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.”

– Ernest Hemingway

Just as those of us further north of the equator begin to buckle down for the fall, I received this postcard to remind me that the travel bug never lets up. I’ve been to Paris once a long time ago. I mostly remember the food being wonderful; I’m sure I would have a much better appreciation for the city now.

I particularly like this postcard because although it was bought in Paris, the stamp is actually Italian. Part of the beauty of postcards is that the writer hand picks it and not only shares part of their journey through their words but the card literally travels on the journey with them. I’m always touched when I receive a postcard because I feel I have traveled part of the road with the sender.

So if you’re not in the habit of sending postcards yet, I encourage you to. Pick a card, travel, sit down in a foreign place, and begin to write and share your adventure. Happy travels and happy postcard writing!
