How did you fare on last week’s Postcard Monday? Did you figure out where the following landmark is found?
If you said Ollantaytambo (or Ollanta) near Cusco, Peru, then I am very impressed. Just outside of Cusco lies this impressive Inca fortress and temple. The profile is said to be that of Viracocha, the creator god of Incan mythology. If you are ever in the area, be sure to pay a visit and climb these narrow steps and wander the terraces. I visited Ollantaytamo in 2007 and was told that during the equinox, the sun hits the carved face directly; wouldn’t that be a site to see! Below the postcard is my own picture from my visit to Cusco, can you still find the profile?
