English Bay too crowded? Take a walk along Vancouver’s beautiful Spanish Banks

DSC_0048-001

All year round, locals and visitors alike head flock to many of Vancouver’s accessible walking trails to take a quick break from the urban hub. So many of us head out in fact that English Bay can feel awfully crowded and noisy on a sunny day. That’s when I head over to Spanish Banks.

I was recently at Spanish Banks with friends new to Vancouver and was surprised that despite having been in RainCity for almost a year, they had not made it out to Spanish Banks yet. Located next to Jericho Beach Park, Pacific Spirit Park, and Wreck Beach, it’s a great place to start a coastal hike. If you’re in the mood for lighter fare, bring a picnic, watch the kids wander far into the shallow water at low tide, and enjoy the sunset on our western shore.  Only 15-20 minutes away from downtown, do like the locals and enjoy this coastal gem.
