This easy hike will have you enjoying the beautiful views atop Quarry Rock

Just a short 30 minutes drive from downtown Vancouver is the easternmost section of the Baden Powell Trail that leads you to the top of Quarry Rock. While there is some uneven terrain, this easy 3.8km round trip trail will have you enjoying densely wooded areas leading to a scenic outcrop overlooking the water and mountains.

Quarry rock has become quick a popular destination recently so I would recommend going early if you enjoy quiet. I went at 9 am on a Sunday morning and it was quite comfortable on the way up where I greeted about 20 other hikers, but was quite busy on the way back down. While there were number of uneven surfaces as well as stairs, hikers of all ages were on the trails. My hike to Quarry Rock was also my first visit to Deep Cove which is in stark contrast to downtown Vancouver with its quaint, friendly, beach-side shops and park. You can even visit the cultural centre and gallery. I think Quarry Rock and Deep Cove are definitely worth a visit if you don’t mind a trail that is a little more crowded with friendly hikers young and old.
